Trauma-Informed Consulting & Training

Building behavioral health programs that reach the people other programs miss.

Quality Counseling partners with government agencies, nonprofits, and clinical teams to design and deliver trauma-informed programming for the communities systems consistently fail — justice-impacted individuals, survivors of racial and generational trauma, and populations that traditional behavioral health services were never built to serve.

We've held municipal contracts totaling more than $230,000, advised the Connecticut Department of Public Health on clinical quality and program integrity, and delivered NASW-accredited continuing education to clinicians nationwide. Every engagement is grounded in direct clinical practice — we build programs we've actually run.

WHO WE WORK WITH

Government & Public Agencies

Municipal, state, and federal partners contracting for behavioral health programming, staff training, and policy consultation. We currently advise the Connecticut Department of Public Health on policy compliance, clinical quality, and program integrity, and have delivered on municipal contracts for the Cities of New Haven and Hamden — on time, in full compliance with federal ARPA reporting requirements, and above contracted performance targets. We work with agencies nationwide.

Nonprofits & Community Organizations

Reentry programs, libraries, schools, community health centers, and advocacy organizations building trauma-informed capacity. We've embedded clinicians into nonprofit and municipal settings, written the policies and procedures that made those placements work, and trained the staff who sustained them after our contract ended.

Clinicians & Group Practices

NASW-accredited continuing education, clinical training, and supervision for behavioral health teams nationwide. We've delivered CEU trainings for Clinicians of Color, Simply Being Wellness, and Power of Choices, and specialize in an area where clinical guidance has lagged badly behind the law: cannabis and mental health.

Consulting & Training Services

Trauma-Informed Trainings

We move organizations from trauma-aware to trauma-responsive. Trainings cover the neurobiology of trauma, recognizing trauma responses in the populations you serve, de-escalation, vicarious trauma and staff burnout, and the concrete policy changes that make a trauma-informed approach real rather than aspirational.

We've trained library staff, clinical teams, correctional personnel, and community providers. Delivered as a single session, a multi-part series, or an organization-wide implementation — on-site nationwide or virtually.

Program Development

End-to-end design of behavioral health programming: needs assessment, service model, staffing structure, standard operating procedures, outcome measures, and the data framework that proves the program worked.

We build with funder requirements in mind from the first meeting. Our federally funded programming has met ARPA reporting standards and exceeded contracted clinical targets. We design programs that survive an audit and produce numbers worth reporting.

We also develop and submit competitive proposals for government and municipal contracts — the same process that has won us more than $230,000 in municipal awards.

Cannabis & Mental Health Continuing Education

NASW-accredited continuing education for clinicians working with cannabis in a legalized landscape. Covers the endocannabinoid system, clinical evidence, assessment and screening, distinguishing cannabis use disorder from therapeutic use, drug interactions, youth cannabis use, and the racial-equity dimensions of cannabis criminalization and its continuing effects on Black communities.

This is a national specialty. Kevnesha has presented on cannabis and mental health at the National Cannabis Festival, the International Women in Cannabis Conference, the New England Cannabis Convention, and the Governor's Prevention Partnership, and completed the Society of Cannabis Clinicians medical curriculum.

Delivered nationally, including for Clinicians of Color, Simply Being Wellness, and Power of Choices.

Reentry Programming

Design and delivery of behavioral health programming for justice-impacted individuals — for correctional agencies, reentry programs, probation and parole partners, and community organizations serving people returning from incarceration.

This is not an adjacent service. Kevnesha spent four years as a Professional Counselor inside New Haven Correctional Center, worked jail diversion and forensic mental health for six years before that, and has evaluated community forensic programs alongside DMHAS, DOC, and Adult Probation. She serves on the board of Stop Solitary Confinement Connecticut and curates Blossoming Beyond Bars, an annual convening on incarceration and healing.

We understand correctional environments from the inside — the operational constraints, the security realities, and why so much well-designed programming fails on contact with them.

Keynote Speaking

Keynotes, plenaries, and panels on racial trauma, behavioral health equity, cannabis and mental health, and the mental health of justice-impacted communities.

Workshop Facilitation

Interactive, small-group facilitation for staff teams, community groups, and cohort-based programs. Topics include racial trauma and healing, cultural humility, collective healing practices, vicarious trauma and staff wellness, financial trauma, and holistic approaches including meditation and yoga therapy.

Recent facilitation includes the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center (Healing Through Cultural Humility), the Black Business Alliance (Healing Black Money Trauma), and ConnCorp at The Lab (Holistic Connections).

Facilitation is participatory by design — built for groups doing the work together, not sitting through a lecture.

Do you deliver trainings virtually or on-site?

Both. We deliver on-site nationwide and virtually for organizations anywhere.

Do your continuing education trainings offer CE credit?

Yes. Our continuing education trainings are accredited by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). CE hours vary by training.

How long is a typical training?

Sessions range from a 90-minute introductory workshop to multi-day intensives. Most organizations begin with a half-day session and build from there.

Can you work with our existing curriculum, or do you build from scratch?

Both. We adapt existing curricula to your population and setting, or design custom programming from the ground up.

What does consulting cost?

Pricing is scoped to each engagement based on scope, audience size, and duration. We regularly work within fixed public-sector and grant-funded budgets — tell us what you have and we'll tell you honestly what's possible within it.
