Kimberly Leak, LMSW
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s degree from Springfield College School of Social Work. For over a decade, I worked in the Yale Emergency Department, where I supported individuals and families in some of their most vulnerable moments. My clinical and operational experience spans hospitals, long-term care, residential programs, and both community-based and in-home services. I bring not only my professional background, but also my lived experience, cultural understanding, and deep commitment to healing work in Black communities.
I know how overwhelming life can feel at times. Whether you're dealing with trauma, anxiety, addiction, housing instability, abuse, or the stress of navigating systems, my goal is to walk alongside you as you find clarity, peace, and strength. I work with individuals across the lifespan—from children to older adults—and I always meet people where they are.
My approach is compassionate and relational. I welcome open, honest conversation, listen without judgment, and hold space for people to feel safe, seen, and supported. I believe in encouragement, empowerment, and empathy. I integrate various evidence-based methods like strength-based practice, client-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused treatment. I also honor culture, spirituality, and lived experience as part of the healing process.
In this role at the Hamden Public Library, I’m excited to connect with motivated individuals who are seeking support, stability, or simply someone to talk to. Whether through short-term assistance at the library or individual therapy, I’m here to help you access the tools and emotional intelligence needed to navigate life’s challenges. I also offer individual therapy for those seeking deeper transformation outside of the library walls.
I am ready to walk alongside anyone motivated to reclaim their wellness—with dignity, courage, and care.
