Therapeutic Mentoring Services: At Risk Youth
At Quality Counseling, we understand that adolescence can be a challenging time for many young individuals, especially those who are considered “at-risk”. We are dedicated to providing a supportive and nurturing environment through our Therapeutic Mentoring Services and partnership with Paths to Purpose. Our services are designed to empower at risk youth by pairing them with Keith Smith Jr., a trained mentor who can guide them on their journey to success.
Keith Smith Jr. is the Founder and Lead Coach at Path to Purpose, a tech-enabled transformational coaching practice for opportunity youth and returning citizens. He is passionate about helping young people from low-income backgrounds overcome negative economic and social influences and build positive, productive, and purposeful lives.
What is Therapeutic Mentoring?
Therapeutic Mentoring is a specialized form of mentoring that combines traditional mentoring principles with therapeutic interventions. Our dedicated mentor works closely with youth therapists to provide support, guidance and positive role modeling for at-risk youth, while also addressing their emotional, behavioral, and social needs. Through this program, we strive to create a safe and trusting relationship between mentors and mentees, fostering personal growth, resilience, and improved overall well-being.
Our Approach:
- Individualized support: We recognize that every at-risk youth has unique challenges and strengths. Our program takes a personalized approach, tailoring mentoring plans to meet the specific needs and goals of each mentee. By addressing their individual circumstances, we can help them overcome obstacles and unlock their full potential.
- Building Trust and Connection: We believe that trust is the foundation of any successful mentoring relationship. Our mentors undergo rigorous training to develop the skills necessary to establish meaningful connections with their mentees. By cultivating a safe and non-judgmental environment, we create a space where young individuals can open up, share their experiences, and receive the support they need.
- Emotional Support and Guidance: Our mentors serve as positive role models and sources of emotional support for at risk youth. They offer guidance, encouragement, and empathy, helping mentees develop coping mechanisms, problem solving skills, and healthy decision making abilities. By promoting emotional well-being, we aim to empower young individuals to navigate life’s challenges more effectively.
- Skill Development: We believe in equipping at risk youth with the tools they need to thrive. Our mentors work collaboratively with mentees to develop essential life skills, such as effective communication, conflict resolution, and goal setting. Through various activities, workshops, and experiential learning opportunities, we help them build a strong foundation for a brighter future.
- Community Engagement: Our services goes beyond the mentoring relationship by actively involving the local community. We facilitate opportunities for mentees to engage in community service, extracurricular activities, and social events. By encouraging social connections and a sense of belonging, we aim to broaden their horizons and foster a positive support network.
